2012 Shootout Near the Alamo
by MacTHW
This weekend will be our first official THW Tournament to be played at TPC San Antonio. This one is good for the first poster/shirt of the season. If you are using coins to rent rounds at TPC San Antonio, do not play there until we play the official tournament rounds starting this evening. This would normally be our Shootout at the Harbour tournament, but Harbour Town is not in this edition of TW13. Therefore, we have come up with an aptly named tournament for enderdog to defend. Bring your competitive spirit and let’s have fun at…

THW Masters -The Final Wii Edition Headlines
By AshThW
A dawning of an era is upon us. Team Housewares has played its second annual Masters Tournament which also happens to be the final tournament of the Wii platform. There are feelings of apprehension of leaving the familiar and feelings of anticipation for what the future brings. With these thoughts in mind our four valiant contenders took on the challenges of the Augusta Golf Club.
As the rounds started Mac was looking to repeat his Masters victory of the previous year. We saw two pairing to star this year’s tourney with Mac playing alongside Enderdog and Ash paired with the ever defiant Binkdog.
The first round started with Mac throwing down the gauntlet early with a three birdie streak on the front nine only to follow that with a six birdie streak on the back. Enderdog was not giving up and put up a valiant effort with two birds on the front and four on the back, but it wasn’t enough, Mac took this pairing’s first round with a 63 and Enderdog was not too far behind with 68 strokes. The second pairing of Ash and Binkdog was not as stellar as the first. Binkdog had a strong start with birdies on the first three holes but then he hit a birdie drought and did not see another tweet until the 18th. Ash did not have such a strong showing and played a lackluster round that did not score low enough to challenge any of the other competitors. Ash and Bink’s scores on this round were 90 and 72 respectively.
Round two was not the birdie fest that round one was. Mac did not showcase his dominance during this round as he did during the first. Enderdog seemed like he was really not in t for this second round, he was not even able to keep up with Mac’s par score on the front nine. Determined to come out in the negatives in this round Mac shot four birdies on the back which brought him to two under on the round while Enderdog continued to falter on the back with two double bogies and three bogies. The first duo finished with Mac scoring a 70 and Enderdog a depressing 78. The twosome of Mac and Bink, determined to improve upon their first round, showed some promise as they peppered the front nine score card with a total of seven birdies between the two contestants. The pair’s second nine was not as remarkable as Ash and Bink were not able to get their scores under par. The intrepid group, inspired by each other’s perseverance, show up at the club house knotted at 77 each.
Round three rolls around with consistent play and surprising collapses. In the first pairing we have the reliable play of Mac and the continuing woe of the Enderdog. This round illustrated that even the greatest players will have their off days. Enderdog’s eagle on the back nine was not enough to quell the damage done on the front with a triple and two double bogies. This breakdown afforded Mac the luxury of playing it safe and protecting his lead through the third round. Their round ended with a dismal 79 for Enderdog and a mediocre 73 for Mac. Our next sets of competitors set out to just remain in the game but were witness to an all too regular phenomena. Round three saw the appearance of the well known “Binkdog choke”, throwing down bogies on 10 of the 18 holes did not do much to help Bink’s chance in the chase for the green jacket with only two birdies and a number of multi-bogie holes. Ash’s outing was not much better and was a showcase in mediocrity. The final for this round was Ash with a 78 and Binkdog with an 85.
Round four rolls around with Mac holding onto a comfortable lead and the rest of the field trying not to leave the elegant grounds of Augusta with too much embarrassment. The first set of players starts out with Enderdog just trying to keep his head above water and Mac with a firm grasp on the lead. Enderdog is playing like he just wants to get this torturous tournament over and shoots a couple double
bogies and a couple birds on the front then follows that performance with a depressing triple bogie on the back nine. Mac starts with an impressive performance on the front nine with an eagle on the third allowing him to complete the front nine three under par. With the lead firmly in his grasp his performance on the back is a display of prudence as he finishes the back two over par. Enderdog finishes with 77 and Mac with a one under score of 71. Our other group is a couple of players who have been broken and just want to finish the tournament. We need not go into the gory details as they are just sad and do not require repetition. In the final round Ash scores and 88 and Binkdog rolls in with a par to finish with an 87.
To wrap it up, Mac is able to repeat as the Masters champ and once again will be awarded the vaunted green jacket coveted by the whole of Team Housewares. Mac wins the tournament with -11, Enderdog follows with +14, Binkdog holds at third with +33 and Ash occupies the caboose with +45. There you have it, the scores for the final tournament on the Wii platform. What does the future bring? More discord within team Binkerton? Team Awesome continuing to be Awesome? Or the emergence of some other thing? Only time will tell.
