2011 binkdog Senior Tour Invitational Headlines
by MacTHW
Forget zip codes, no one’s even in the same planetary system as B-Dub, who came to win at the binkdog Senior Tour Invitational. Smashing through the competition like a wrecking ball, B-Dub takes an early lead in Round 1 and relentlessly grows his lead throughout the following three rounds. Claims that he was rusty after not playing in and missing the last tournament turned out to be nothing but bags of rust-colored sand. Bag after bag after bag.
In other news, it would appear that Ash has hired himself a new swing coach as he attempts to distance himself from the caboose, which could possibly be aided by two of binkdog’s new recruits—dude and T-Bone.
Jared, the former self-proclaimed Legend, is a no-show but JoeCool from the IWGC stops by to partake in four rounds of THW tournament fun. Hope to see you again for the S-Mart Classic on September 9-10th!
Meanwhile, talks are underway to rename B-Dub to The Sandbagger. This will have to be decided on by the Senior members, which somehow the enderdog seems to have voted himself into.
The headlines are condensed this week due to a malfunctioning Headlinerizer machine.
Here are the final results from the binkdog Senior Tour Invitational.

2011 Griinbrier Classic Headlines
by MacTHW
It was an action-packed tournament weekend at THW Golf as binkdog got set to defend his title at the 2011 Griinbrier Classic. The rare Eagle and even rarer Double-Eagle decide to make an appearance. The rookie Seartu plays in his first THW tournament. Could he handle the pressure? Would the Buzzsaws or 5-hour energy drinks lead someone to victory? And why do the players find themselves at the Augusta National Par 3 course? Stay a while…these are your extra-lengthy headlines for the Griinbrier Classic tournament weekend.
Round 1 of the Griinbrier kicks off Friday evening, with Ash, binkdog, enderdog, MacTHW and Seartu at the tee box. Enough jibba-jabba on the smack channel, it was time for action on the links. The golfers set off down the front nine with enderdog holding a slight, one-stroke advantage at the turn. Seartu and his trusty THWStick would have none of it as he snags four birdies and avoids all bogies along the back, netting him a 66 at the end of the round, besting MacTHW by four strokes and enderdog, who mounts a late charge with Double-Eagle on the 17th, by five.
The results after Round 1 are:
Griinbrier Standings after Round 1 |
---|
POS | Player | THRU | TOTAL | SCORE |
---|
1 | Seartu | 18 | 66 | -4 |
2 | MacTHW | 18 | 70 | PAR |
3 | enderdog | 18 | 71 | +1 |
4 | binkdog | 18 | 73 | +3 |
5 | Ash | 18 | 96 | +26 |
Back to the tee box for another round. Everyone is warmed up now and gunning for low scores. binkdog, enderdog and Seartu all arrive at the turn with a 34. MacTHW makes an attack on Seartu’s lead, resulting in a 30 on the back nine, letting him tip-toe past the leaders and run off to the clubhouse with a 65 on the scorecard before the others knew what hit them. binkdog and Seartu follow with a 68, enderdog a 69 and Ash goes sub-90, carding an 88.
With two rounds finished, the Griinbrier Classic will continue on Saturday evening. After 36 holes, Seartu sits in first place with a one-stroke lead over the pursuers.
Griinbrier Standings after Round 2 |
---|
POS | Player | THRU | TOTAL | SCORE |
---|
1 | Seartu | 36 | 134 | -6 |
2 | MacTHW | 36 | 135 | -5 |
3 | enderdog | 36 | 140 | PAR |
4 | binkdog | 36 | 141 | +1 |
5 | Ash | 36 | 184 | +44 |
With the pressures of tournament play off the player’s shoulders, the golfers head to Celtic Manor where binkdog issues a re-match in an attempt to take his course record back from MacTHW. Team binkerton issues a challenge to Team SmackU as well. Ash leaves for the evening.
MacTHW leads the group at the turn, while Seartu unravels and runs to the just-vacated caboose. Seartu regroups along the back nine but is unable to catch the group. MacTHW reels in a win with a 70 for the round.
In the team effort, Team SmackU finds themselves down 3 at the turn and unable to make up any ground along the back. Team binkerton for the win at 3UP.
Last round of Friday evening is played at August National with the Rebecca Black Friday pins. Team SmackU looks to avenge their loss to the binkerdogs. MacTHW is hunting for records and looks to be on pace with a 31 at the turn. Unfortunately, he runs into the Augusta Buzzsaw on the 11th and by the time it spits him out, binkdog is able to close the lead on his nemesis, with binkdog and MacTHW sharing the round at 70 apiece.
In the team effort, Team SmackU hands out a what appears to be a beatdown, going 4UP by the turn. Team binkerton makes valiant charge on the back which stalls out on the 13th handing Team SmackU a 1UP victory in a game that goes the distance.
On Saturday, Round 3 officially kicks off and enderdog looks to make up for lost ground. In a show of determination, he leads at the turn and hangs onto it throught the back as well. enderdog finished six strokes ahead of the pack, clearly indicating he is on the hunt for a tournament win. Meanwhile, the strains of being tournament leader start to show as the rookie Seartu struggles to maintain his lead.
Looking to boost their stats, Team binkerton challenges Team Awesome to a simultaneous team game. Team Awesome is down four at the turn but battle back to only 3 down by the 14th. binkdog relies on team-mate enderdog to clinch the 4UP win for Team binkerton on the 15th.
The standings after round 3 are:
Griinbrier Standings after Round 3 |
---|
POS | Player | THRU | TOTAL | SCORE |
---|
1 | enderdog | 54 | 210 | PAR |
T2 | MacTHW | 54 | 211 | +1 |
T2 | Seartu | 54 | 211 | +1 |
4 | binkdog | 54 | 218 | +8 |
5 | Ash | 54 | 282 | +72 |
The scores are tight and it is still anyone’s game as the golfers head into the fourth and final round of the Griinbrier Classic. enderdog now enjoys a one stroke lead, relieving Seartu of the pressures of being tournament leader. binkdog signals he’s still in it to win it as he heads into the turn only one stroke behind the enderdog. Hole 2 dashes tournament hopes for MacTHW as he exceeds the stroke limit there but gives it a final push, carding a 30 on the back. binkdog also makes a charge, winning the round with a 72. Seartu needs a 72 to win the tournament but falls short with a 75. MacTHW edges out enderdog by one stroke, setting up a TIE between the rookie ‘dog and MacTHW for winner, which will be decided by 9 holes at the Augusta National Par 3 course.
The winner will be decided by whoever comes out ahead after 9 holes at the Augusta Par 3. MacTHW takes a lead after the 1st but a wiley enderdog quickly pulls the score even after the 4th. A rapid fire of birdies by enderdog seals the deal and clinches the win for the enderdog!
The final standings are:
Griinbrier Standings after Round 4 |
---|
POS | Player | THRU | TOTAL | SCORE |
---|
1 | enderdog | 72 | 283 | +3 |
2 | MacTHW | 72 | 284 | +4 |
3 | Seartu | 72 | 286 | +6 |
4 | binkdog | 72 | 290 | +10 |
5 | Ash | 72 | 373 | +93 |
Congratulations to enderdog on his 4th THW Golf tournament win! Saturday was Moving Day for the rookie, as he leap-frogged from third to first place in the standings, overtaking the Friday leader and scoring a decisive victory at the Augusta National Par 3 nine hole playoff.
Fans far and wide will be talking about his one for a while. The scores were close and made for a very exciting tournament. Thanks to everyone for participating. No doubt, enderdog is already practicing at Turnberry.
Also….....
To relax and unwind, the remaining four golfers played another two rounds before calling it a night.
First up was a preview of Turnberry, where enderdog and Seartu both shoot a 66 to tie for first, with binkdog and MacTHW close behind with a pair of 67s.
In the team effort, the round goes the entire 18 holes, with neither team able to claim victory. All square after 18 for Team SmackU and Team binkerton.
And for the final round, Seartu puts another tick in the “Win” column with his 70 at Liberty National.
Team Smacku and Team binkerton battle back and forth until Team SmackU finally manages to break the stalemate and go 1UP on the 18th.
See everyone at the binkdog Senior Tour Invitational at Turnberry next weekend!

Tournament Posters
A while back I received an ender-request from the enderdog. He wanted to be able to view posters and results from previous tournaments on the teamhousewares.com web site. I am happy to say the feature has been implemented. The menu button labeled “Tournaments” will get you there.
Thanks for the suggestion enderdog!

Celtic Manor Falls
by MacTHW
Sheesh, it’s hot outside. Maybe it’s time to cool off inside with a tasty Iced ViaBanana Buzzsaw. Seartu spends time tweaking the virtual swing while joining forces with another member to create a brand new team. Record seeking continues and some DO fall. Finally, Ash makes his long awaited return to THW Golf. Can anyone spare a quarter? I need to get a copy of this weekend’s THW Golf headlines…
Ash, binkdog and MacTHW start off Friday evening with a trip to Torrey Pines. Ash immediately rushes to the caboose to see if enderdog or Seartu had messed it up while he was gone. Meanwhile, binkdog and MacTHW battle it out—with MacTHW picking up two strokes along the back nine.
Ash and MacTHW then head to Banff Springs in what was supposed to be a team competition. The other team was forced to withdraw due to technical glitches. A torrential downpour and 22MPH winds make things a little interesting.
Ash takes his leave and binkdog, MacTHW and Seartu head over to The Greenbrier. The color yellow keeps dogging the ‘dog and seartu as well. MacTHW makes a run at the course record and looks to be on pace but runs into the ruthless 18th and misses the mark by two strokes.
The trio heads over to Bethpage Black for the final round of the evening when HolyHutton makes an appearance. The THW crew gladly invite him to the tee box and off they go. EA’s apparent technical difficulties in pushing bits under the ocean cause a restart or two but eventually a round comes together. Seartu fights with an uncooperative Chicken Stick while MacTHW’s buzzsaw hangs in there for a one stroke victory over HolyHutton.
binkdog and MacTHW start off Saturday evening with an official entry in the IWGC Compine Open. Both golfers are tied at the turn and neither can get the upper hand along the back. The round is a draw at 72 apiece.
Ash joins in as the golfers head to Whistling Straits in search of a B-Dub course record. Everyone is off pace immediately. MacTHW takes his one stroke lead from the front nine, combines it with another four on the back and rolls in with a five stroke, yet far short of the record, victory.
Seartu meets up with the crew at Pebble Beach and joins forces with binkdog to create Team binksmear. The rookie team throws out a challenge to THW’s original team—Team Awesome, who gladly accept. A birdie and par from a fired up Ash quickly take Team Awesome to a 2UP lead. An unfortunate bogey by Team Awesome coupled with two birdies by the other team on the back nine spell victory for Team binksmear, who prevent a tie on the 18th and go 1UP.
In the individual competition, binkdog is in the zone, leading by one at the turn. He extends the lead by another stroke on the back nine resulting in another “W” for the binkdog, enough to re-take the third place ranking on the leaderboard.
Seartu offers to put his record at East Lake GC up for grabs. MacTHW’s Buzzsaw is in full effect as he fires off a 33 at the turn and continues his charge on the back, finishing with a 65 on the scorecard and a new course record to boot.
binkdog takes off for the evening, leaving MacTHW and Seartu at Celtic Manor—the most defended course at THW Golf. The Buzzsaw is still in high gear as MacTHW tears through the back nine in 29 strokes. Course defending duties at Celtic Manor now fall upon MacTHW as he beats the record by five strokes, coming up two strokes shy of the overall record.
Thanks to everyone for playing this weekend. Next weekend is the THW Griinbrier Classic, where binkdog will look to defend his 2010 title and take possession of the 2011 shirt.
See everyone for two rounds on Friday and two rounds on Saturday!
