Chooo Chooo For the Seartu

by MacTHW

Headline provided by Seartu smile

binkdog, enderdog, MacTHW and Seartu hit the links in search of low records as the BWP Course Record UpForGrabs-athon continues. Two team rivals meet again while the battle for the caboose heats up. Chooo, chooo all aboard…these are your headlines for Saturday night.

binkdog and MacTHW warm up at Liberty National. BWP’s record is safe as the best that could be mustered was MacTHW’s 74.

enderdog and Seartu join the action at TPC Sawgrass, once again pitting Team SmackU vs. Team binkerton. It’s a three-way tie between MacTHW, enderdog and Seartu at the turn. Seartu finds the water on the 17th. Again. And Again. MacTHW goes snorkeling as well but manages a one stroke victory over enderdog at the end of the round.

In the team effort, Team Smacku takes an early lead, going 2UP at the turn. Team binkerton mounts a charge on the back and manages to bring the game All Square after 18.

Next up, the golfers return to Liberty National. binkdog and MacTHW are tied at 34 and under par at the turn. MacTHW avoids carefully navigates the greens, netting another 34 for the back…two strokes shy of retaking the course record. Meanwhile, Seartu fights to avoid the ChickenStick Shank.

Team binkerton has their eyes on victory as they take an early lead, going 2UP by the 4th. Not wanting to concede a loss to the ‘dogs, Team SmackU battles back to overtake Team binkerton going 2UP to send the ‘dogs a packing.

Seartu leaves for the evening and the remaining trio head to The Greenbrier. MacTHW is looking in great shape at the turn but falls victim to the brutal 18th, exceeding his shot limit on the dastardly hole. With Seartu off the train, command of the caboose returns to enderdog.

Apparently gluttons for punishment, the golfers return to Liberty National for another attempt at the record. The course record is not in the cards and it is quite evident early on. Everyone is off pace at the turn. The struggles on the greens continue along the back while MacTHW uses his lead at the turn to hang on for victory.

During the post game interview, binkdog was heard saying “...I just don’t know. It’s like our team just isn’t good enough.” enderdog was concerned that he would be dumped from the team but this reporter hopes it isn’t true. Imagine if Robin left Batman because his car wouldn’t start. Not only is it not fair but it doesn’t make any sense either. Team binkerton just needs to re-group and aspire to be the well-oiled machine that is Team SmackU!

Another great weekend on the virtual links. See everyone next weekend.

Headlines for Friday, Friday the Day Before Saturday

by MacTHW

Hey look, a Saturday update for the Friday night happenins’. THW’s most defended course requires more defending. Seartu takes his first foray onto the links with his new Chicken Stick. Will his scores suffer? Also, the rivalry between Team binkerton and Team SmackU heats up. These are your headlines for THW’s Friday night.

binkdog and MacTHW warm up for the evening at The Greenbrier. MacTHW, without his Buzzsaw©, runs into trouble on the green. binkdog takes the round by one stroke.

enderdog, fresh off of date night, joins binkdog and MacTHW for another round at The Greenbrier, a popular course at the moment. Scores are tight at the turn but enderdog and MacTHW self-destruct on the back nine. binkdog gets his second win of the evening.

The three golfers head to Torrey Pines next, looking to unseat one B-Dub from the course record. While that goal was not even close to being achieved, MacTHW does manage to get it together on the back nine for the win. enderdog keeps the seat warm in the caboose.

Seartu arrives, bringing his new THWStick© with him. Will there be mayhem? Will there be crying? Will things get smashed to pieces at the Seartu household? Time will tell. But for now, it is time for Team SmackU and Team binkerton to battle in team competition.

The golfers tee off at TPC Sawgrass in nice, calm conditions. Seartu looks to dial in the THWStick© while enderdog looks for a win. MacTHW still struggles on the greens and hands enderdog a victory.

In the team effort, a late rally by Team binkerton is not enough to shut down Team SmackU, who take the round by going 2UP.

enderdog, fresh off his win at Sawgrass, looks for another one at Augusta. Unfortunately, Augusta was having none of it. MacTHW, still struggling, reminds the players he is this year’s THW Masters winner and takes the round by two strokes.

The team game goes back to All Square twice, but Team SmackU manages to prevent a tie and goes 1UP on the 17th for their second win of the evening.

binkdog, for reasons unknown, offers up his windy and rainy Celtic Manor to anyone who can beat his record. enderdog, looking to add his name to another course record, is on pace at the turn. Unfortunately, he can not a needed birdie on the 18th and has to settle for a tie. binkdog once again retains his course record.

Team binkerton manages to lead the team game at the turn but Team SmackU gains the upper hand on the back for a 1UP victory, a Friday night shut-out of Team binkerton.

Can Team binkerton correct their askew Team game? Will the SeartuStick be in search of more course records? Find out in the next THW Headlines.

Leaderboard Eligibility

For immediate release:

We have always had an “optional” stance towards the Chicken Stick here at Team Housewares. While we will still happily play with anyone, Chicken Stick or not, we have recently decided that in orer to be eligible for tournament prizes, stats or leaderboard rankings, you must use a Chicken Stick. If you don’t have have one, that’s cool. Your scores will just count as fun. We will still gladly hand out or be on the receiving end of the beatdowns.

How will we know if you have one? The THW Fair Gaming Commission is all-knowing.

This mainly applies to any new members moving forward, as all THW members currently have a Chicken Stick. We just want to keep the leaderboard ranking on a fair and even playing field.

Thanks, Mgmnt.

2011 THW Griinbrier Classic

by MacTHW

For immediate release:

Team Housewares proudly presents the 2011 THW Griinbrier Classic to be played at the Old White Course at The Greenbrier on 7.29.2011

2011 THW Griinbrier Classic

binkdog is the winner of the 2010 Griinbrier Classic making him the defending champion and man to beat at this year’s event.

We have a few new people on board so I’ll explain the rules and prize eligibility quickly.

To be eligible for tournament prizes, a player must play a minimum of two consecutive weekends prior to the tournament*. The reason for this is that we are not interested in having someone join us ONLY for a tournament, grab a prize, and then not play again. Participation is key.

Each player must play their four rounds on Friday or Saturday nights (preferably split among both nights) during normal THW gaming hours.

The Chicken Stick is REQUIRED for prize eligibility and leaderboard ranking.

Two New Dynamic Duos

by MacTHW

The weekend sees two new power-house caliber teams formed, with MacTHW lending his awesomeness to each one. Everyone has their eyes on a course record. Two trips to Greenbrier but none to Celtic Manor, what gives? These are your weekend headlines for THW Golf. Ready? Here we go.

Friday night sees the creation of not one, but two new teams. The first one, Team BigMac, containing the members B-Dub and MacTHW face off against Team binkerton, the binkdog/enderdog teamup. Just to remind the folks at home, as of TW12, team games are also solo efforts so scores count as a team and as individual, so records are still on the line.

Team BigMac and Team binkerton have their first showdown at Torry Pines. Surprisingly, team play makes it onto the back nine and team BigMac emerges victorious at 3UP. In the individual effort, B-Dub crushes the competition with a record tieing 65.

B-Dub requests the Greenbrier….hmmmm guess what course he’s been practicing. Team binkerton looks for retribution but finds none. Team BigMac shuts down the dog pound with a 5UP victory. In the individual effort, B-Dub once again breaks away from the pack with a 65, good enough for a course record. The spidey sense says a re-match will be called soon.

In what starts to be another team effort at Royal Melbourne, B-Dub abruptly high-tails it off the course, leaving MacTHW without a partner. The game defaults to a two player individual effort of binkdog vs. enderdog. enderdog puts a tick in the “W” column with his three stroke victory over binkdog.

B-Dub returns and Seartu joins the action. It’s an individual effort at Sheshan where MacTHW is on pace to break the record at the turn but completely melts down on the back nine, handing victory to B-Dub who ties the course record with his 72.

There must be ghosts at TPC Scottsdale, as B-Dub once again flees the course leaving his playing partner standing alone. It’s another individual effort for binkdog, enderdog and Seartu. enderdog desperately wants another “W” but so does Seartu. They settle for a tie after 18, both shooting a 72.

At this point, MacTHW and Seartu decide to team up against Team binkerton. Unfortunately, there is a naming discrepancy that needs to be worked out, so they head into competition as Team ToBeNamed. Their first effort does not go well, as Team binkerton defeats the newly minted team with a 3UP victory. In the individual effort, enderdog shoots low, beating out MacTHW by one stroke for another enderdog victory of the evening.

binkdog and MacTHW find the tee box empty on Saturday evening and go for an individual effort at Bethpage Black, looking to get back a course record from the absent B-Dub. MacTHW misses the record by two strokes. binkdog, even more.

Sensing action was afoot at THW Golf, enderdog and Seartu join the group and tee off at Augusta…Saturday tees, of course. enderdog scores his third victory of the weekend, firing off a 69, beating MacTHW by two strokes.

Naming snafu resolved, the new MacTHW/Seartu team of Team SmackU challenges Team binkerton at East Lake. While Team SmackU suffers a -3 beatdown, Seartu charges on the back nine for the individual effort, winning the round with a 69 which is also good enough to call a new course record at East Lake. Wait for it…enderdog calls for a re-match. Hopefully they can hear him yelling from the caboose.

MacTHW calls in his re-match at Greenbrier, so both teams find the tee box at White Sulphur Springs. The team effort is much closer, but Team binkerton perseveres and get a 2UP victory against the young rookie team. Individually, MacTHW manages a one stroke victory over enderdog, MacTHW’s first win of the weekend.

enderdog gets his re-match at East Lake and things do not fare well. For Team binkerton…or the enderdog. Team SmackU smacks Team binkerton around, taking the win at 6UP. enderdog fails to reclaim the course as his own as MacTHW marches to victory in the individual effort with a 70 on the scorecard.

Final round of the evening is to play out at Banff, once again Team SmackU vs. Team binkerton. The birdies come fast and furious while Team binkerton finds it hard to keep up with the well-oiled machine that is Team SmackU. The team efforts ends after a 6UP victory by Team SmackU. MacTHW catches a second wind as he shoots a round winning 63 at Banff, tieing the record.

And that concludes this weekends headlines. Thanks to everyone for playing and see you on the links next weekend.
