Tiger 2011 Is Here
by Mac
Note: Yes, I fell a little behind in the headlines. Time to get caught up. You’ll see multiple posts today.
Tiger Woods 2001 for Wii is finally out. And with it come new challenges and new courses.
Some of the new courses included are The Greenbrier, Celtic Manor, Liberty National and course no one should ever try to play, The Predator.
The game now measures your swing plane, so it is possible to a.) miss the ball altogether b.) leave a divot c.) top the ball or d.) severely shank it. When put on Tour Pro mode with Expert settings, you no longer get an aiming circle nor a reading of how many yards to the pin. Elevation is not shown either. Hitting the ball straight at 100 percent is quite the challenge now.
Our first outing shows the level of pain the new version of Tiger Woods for Wii brings. The best score was by binkdog, who shot a 120 at TPC Blue Monster.

Compare that to our Doral scores under the Tiger Woods 2010 version

Let the fun begin!

Tiger 10 - a great final night !!
by binkdog
It was the end of an era as we played our last competitive games with Tiger Wood PGA Tour 10 for the WII on Saturday, June 5th. Our virtual golfers are now playing Tiger 11 and our first big tournament will kick off this upcoming weekend. Based on early practice rounds, we expect MUCH higher scores for a while!
Back to Saturday’s games, the famed Wolf Creek Golf Club started things off but proved to be a little tamer thanks to binkdog dropping the settings to a comfortable level in order to weasel a victory at Mac’s expense. In the end, it didn’t matter as Mac (aka Awesomeness) shot a 73 and outlasted binkdog (77) and Ash (90).
Nemesis course # 2 was next as we played Pebble Beach one more time. Mac, the self-titled “champion” , drained yet another incredible Birdie at the 18th to catch binkdog for a tie match at 72! Binkdog walked off the course mumbling something about a putting robot .... Ash hacked his way around the course with an 89.
The amazing and incredible Virg joined the action at Hazeltine - his least favorite course! . Binkdog jumped out early and took a lead to the back 9 with an awesome round of 31 on the front. Binkdog was unable to generate any magic on the back 9 and was caught by Virg in the homestretch as he put together 6 birdies on the back for a torrid 30, finishing with a 67 to beat binkdog (69) by 2. Mac and Ash battled for third the entire round and Mac (the self-titled “champion”) once again found himself digging into his “bag o golfing magic” to catch Ash on the final hole with a par to Ash’s bogey to tie at 72.
it was only fitting that the final round of Tiger Woods 10 resulted in one of our greatest (dare I say “epic” ?) rounds ever! The foursome pulled up to a sunny day at Torrey Pines. Binkdog managed an early lead on the front with a consistent string of pars, but Mac and Virg soon went sub-par. Ash was right on their tail with a single bogey to ruin his par streak. In what might be a first, birdies at #9 resulted in a 3 way tie for first between Ash, Binkdog and Virg at 37, with Mac a stroke off the pace at 38. Bink and Ash made a move to take control with early birdies on the back, but Virg would not be denied a run at the title. Coming into the 18th, Virg held a one shot lead over Bink and Ash with Mac 3 off the pace. Virg and Mac birdied 18 to give Virg (70) and 2 shot win over Bink and Ash (72) and mac (73). With all 4 players within 3 shots of the lead on the final scoreboard, this might have been our greatest 4 man battle to date!
As we turn to the future, Tiger 11 brings challenges we didn’t see in Tiger 10 - more realism, harder shots from the rough, tougher chips, putts, and very tough on the tee! What will the future bring us - will Sir Chips a Lot ever show up again? Will his cousin Sir Super Slicer and his cousin Sir Hooks a Lot show their faces in Tiger 11? Only time will tell, and we look forward to bringing you all the action, so keep it tuned to the THW Tiger Woods news feed! See you next time on the links!

MacTHW Scorches the Links, binkdog Abandons in Frustration
by MacTHW
Welcome to the last weekend of the TeamHousewares Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2010 season. The action is sure to be good this Friday and Saturday evening.
What’s with the all the formality? Everywhere you look, there’s ties. If you are star-struck, look closely, an Elway was spotted once or twice.
Ash, binkdog and reigning Champion Virg started the weekend off at the Firestone Country Club. Birdies and bogeys were aplenty. The battle for first would be between binkdog and virg. An unfortunate bogey by Virg on hole 18 causes a tie between the two contenders (68 each), with Ash coming in third with an 81.
Awesomeness blows onto the course as MacTHW joins the action at Bethpage Black. Coming off of a tie with binkdog in the previous game, virg was looking for redemption. MacTHW was looking to get warmed up. This game had two sets of contenders deadlocked in a tie throughout most of the game. MacTHW and virg for first and Ash and bink battling for second. In the end, virg was unable to secure first place due to another bogey on hole 18—resulting in another tie, with both MacTHW and virg at 68 each. Ash and bink traded third and fourth spots for most of the game, with Ash securing third place due to an Elway by bink on hole 15.
Next, the action moved to Fancourt. The story was pretty much a replay of Bathpage Black, with two sets of contenders tying each other. The action was too hot for binkdog to handle, as he abandons on hole 16, handing third place to Ash. The heated battle for first continued between MacTHW and virg, but this time it was a birdie by MacTHW on hole 18 that resulted in yet another tie between the two golfing powerhouses.
A fourth round was inevitable…
Harbour Town would be the place for the last battle of the evening.
binkdog regains his composure and joins the action. The result? Same as it had been all evening, MacTHW and virg each grasping for first and Ash and bink battling for third. Not wanting to settle for a tie this time, MacTHW steps up and delivers an impressive 6 birdies on the back 9, setting a new personal best of 61. Virg follows closely behind for second with a 65. The competition between Ash and binkdog was fierce as well. Ultimately, the deciding hole would be number 11, where binkdog delivers a birdie, while Ash bags himself a bogey.
Join us again for more action on Saturday night.

Challengers Regroup, Virg Reclaims the Crown
by binkdog
It was an exciting weekend in team housewares golf, with great events on Friday and Saturday night.
Saturday night marked the return of the Virg, who reclaimed his crown for the week with a low scoring average of 65.5. The battle for “virg jr” (aka 2nd place) was in full swing at Torrey Pines, with Ash closing with a double eagle, and bink matching mac’s birdie on 18, giving bink a 2nd place finish (72) over mac (73) an Ash (74). The Virg stood alone at the top with a 67. At TPC Boston, binkdog jumped out to an early lead but gave it back to Virg a few holes in. They battled all the way to the end, where a bogey at 17 ended bink’s dreams of upsetting the champ. Virg (64) was victorious by 2 over bink (66) and by 6 over mac (70). Ash got into some early trouble and was unable to recover, posting an 86.
While Mac dominated the action on Friday, his average score of 71.5 was not good enough to beat Virg, who is the champ with an average of 65.5.
See you again next time on the links !!

MacTHW Dominates Friday Night THW Golf, binkdog Mulls Retirement
by binkdog
Ash and Bink got things started on Friday night in a close battle in fierce winds at Riviera Country Club. Ash went Eagle, Birdie, Birdie at the turn and needed every stroke as bink missed a golden opportunity on 18 with a shot clock violation. Ash by a stroke, 75-76. At Turnberry, a rare double-eagle by Ash was not enough to take down bink, who shot a 65 against Ash’s 69. Bink and Ash played one final exhibition 9 hole event at Doral, with Ash finishing at -2 to take out the binkdog. Mac joined the friday night action at Cog Hill and quickly crushed the rebellion with a 7 stroke beatdown of binkdog , 65-72, and Ash falling down with an 80. At Hazeltine, Mac seized the lead and wouldn’t let go, with a 4 stroke victory of bink, who finished ahead of Ash by 2 at 72, 76, and 78. It went from bad to worse for the would be challengers at Kiawah Island, with Mac firing a 4 under 68 to win by 9 strokes over bink (77) and 13 over Ash (81). In the final event of the evening, It was a battle to the finish with binkdog tracking mac and taking a one shot lead into 18. The champ rose to the occasion and sank an improbable putt for a birdie on the final hole, while binkdog managed a par to end with a tie at 71. The wheels came off for Ash, as he ballooned to a 90.
