enderdog Three-peats at Sandbagger Classic
by MacTHW
The enderdog is stuck on a snowy east coast and nearly misses defending his very own Sandbagger Classic at Pebble Beach. MacTHW is running out of tournaments to win for the season. Will he be shut out? The People’s Champ? Meanwhile, binkdog, growing weary of losing out to enderdog, vows to not lose this tournament by one stroke. The PointedMarlin enters the tournament and it’s all fun and games until the Kinect rears it’s ugly,...err, eye? These are your headlines for the 2013 Sandbagger Classic.
Pebble Beach is a favorite of the enderdog. It is the course where he first took the THW Golfers by surprise, going eighteen under at the very first Sandbagger Classic (then called the THW Battle Royale). He returned the next year and successfully defended his tournament, once again going double-digits under par. This year, he faces competition from binkdog who is hot on his heels and hungry for another tournament win.
Round one sees binkdog take the lead over enderdog. He bests his rival by two strokes and goes six under for the round. The rest of the field is not so lucky. MacTHW barely manages a +2 while Marlin goes +9 and Ash plays himself right out of the tournament with a +25.
Round two finishes with binkdog extending his lead yet still a little further as he shoots two better than enderdog with his round ending three under par. enderdog appears off his game as he has to settle for a tie with MacTHW at one under par. Marlin comes in at +6 and Ash at +7.
Round three is traditionally Moving Day for our golfers but everyone forgot to reserve themselves a van. enderdog manages to make up one stroke, finishing at 3 under par while binkdog and MacTHW are close behind, each shooting two under par. Ash and Marlin both go double-digits over par. binkdog clings to a three stroke lead as the competitors head into round four. Marlin gets tired of fighting the Kinect and bails after three rounds.
Round four awakens the sleeping enderdog as he looks to close the gap between himself and binkdog. enderdog picks up three strokes along the front nine as the best binkdog could muster is par. The two combatants are now tied. MacTHW runs into Kinect troubles and destroys his chances at mounting any sort of challenge with a ten over par for the round. binkdog attempts to pull ahead with birdie on the 13th but enderdog responds with EAGLE giving enderdog the lead after 67 holes played. enderdog then goes on to birdie the next two holes but gives one back with bogey on the 16th. binkdog valiantly eagles the 18th but enderdog follows up with birdie winning the round and the overall Sandbagger Classic tournament.

2013 Sandbagger Classic
by MacTHW
Well, lookey here… it’s a golf invitation and it’s on time!
This weekend is the 2013 Sandbagger Classic at Pebble Beach. enderdog is the defending champion and is fresh off of his last major tournament win at the Golfsmack Open and minor tournament win at the Cappuccino Cup. While binkdog and enderdog have dominated the tournaments this season, no one has won back-to-back THW Majors. Will enderdog make it two consecutive THW Majors with the Sandbagger Classic or will his hopes and dreams be stolen by someone else amongst the THW golfer group, even maybe, some unknown ‘other’ guy?
Here is your invite to the 2013 Sandbagger Classic…

2013 Cappuccino Cup
by MacTHW
Tonight is our first THW Tournament Lite—the Cappuccino Cup at TPC Scottsdale. virgdawg won it last year but will not be defending due to lack of Xbox and Kinect. Will MacTHW finally step up and grab a tournament victory or will all hopes and dreams be taken by enderdog?

binkdog Settles For Second As enderdog Wins Cappuccino Cup
by MacTHW
This year’s Cappuccino Cup at TPC Scottsdale becomes the first minor (or Tournament Lite) tournament since THW Golf switched to a major/minor tournament schedule due to the large course library included with TW13 (and TW14). This means no shirt and no poster but points and bragging rights are still on the line. Predictable dude once again fails to finish a tournament—not due to bad gameplay but because he can’t roll with having to play for second. Bah, rookies. These are your major headlines for the 2013 Cappuccino Cup minor.
For a minor tournament, the competition was fierce…especially between the two top dogs who fought very close battles through each and every round.
It would appear that everyone came to win. No one played themselves out of the tournament during round one. Scores were close with dude and enderdog leading the pack, both at five under par. binkdog trails by two strokes, MacTHW by three and Ash by six.
Round two sees more of the same. Very competitive gameplay. binkdog steps up his game and dude cools off a bit. enderdog manages another win, edging out binkdog by one stroke, going six under for the round. MacTHW comes in at two under, dude at one under and Ash is two over par.
For those keeping score at home, this puts enderdog at eleven under and binkdog at 8 under after two rounds.
Our intrepid quintet tees off on Saturday and MacTHW immediately feels the wrath of his Kinect. Everything goes wrong and his round spins out of control essentially ending his tournament victory bid. binkdog and enderdog continue their battle for supremacy but its dude that ends up going low and winning round three at six under par. enderdog once against bests his Team binkerton teammate by one as they come in at three under and two under, respectively. dude manages to play himself right back into the tournament. The top three players…enderdog, dude and binkdog are at fourteen under, twelve under and ten under par.
Its round four and binkdog is looking to make up for lost ground. He currently trails enderdog by four strokes. While enderdog is on cruise control, binkdog gets busy making up for lost ground. He gains three strokes on enderdog along the front nine and now only one stroke behind. dude runs into a Kinect buzzsaw along the back and abandons the round, emotionally unable to continue knowing he would be playing for second or third place. Ash and MacTHW step up their game and finish the round tied at four under par. Meanwhile, binkdog needs a birdie on 18 to tie enderdog and force a playoff. binkdog’s drive is in the fairway and his second shot gets to the green. Unfortunately, the birdie putt refuses to fall and binkdog frustratingly finishes the tournament one stroke behind enderdog.

Majors and Minors
by MacTHW
The next iteration of EA’s Tiger Woods Golf is said to have 40 courses available (25 on the Historic Edition disc plus 15 as downloadable content). While this creates the possibility of a LOT of tournaments for us here at THW Golf where we usually play a tournament as it is happening on the PGA Tour, it is almost too many.
In order to keep our THW Golf Tournaments a special and big event, we are limiting those to one per month. Those will be referred to as THW Majors and will include posters and embroidered polo shirt. The other tournaments will be referred to as THW Tournament Lite (or THW Minors). These will not have a poster nor a winners shirt. However, unlike a Major tournament, which is worth 10 points for the winner, a Minor will be worth 5 points for the winner.
Our first Minor tournament is coming up soon—February 1st and 2nd. It’s the THW Cappuccino Cup at TPC Scottsdale.
Names have yet to be worked out for the rest of the Minor tournaments. Once they are, they will appear on the normal tournament schedule page.
Looking forward to a great year of golfing.

About THW Golf
THW Golf is a private online golf league that plays Tiger Woods PGA Tour on the Wii. Membership is not open to the public and one must be invited by a current member in order to join. THW Golf was formed during the Tiger Woods 2010 season and provides for a family-friendly environment where known friends can get together and compete in challenging and cheat-free golf sessions. We think that not opening ourselves to the trolls and cheaters and hackers of the greater World Wide Web is key to maintaining that environment.
Although we are closed for public membership, please feel free to check out our stats, headlines, tournaments, promotional videos, and heck, even our by-laws. As you can see, while we may be a small group, we like to think BIG. But more importantly, we like to have FUN.
You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter, thanks to the team’s resident social butterflies,
Ash and binkdog.
