2012 THW Players Championship Shirt Presentation
by MacTHW
A responsibility of the 2011 THW Players Championship champion is to present the winning shirt to the 2012 champion. In this case, enderdog got to present fellow Team binkerton teammate binkdog with the winning shirt and poster. binkdog is a bit camera shy, so he had to be blocked out. Here are photos from the presentation…

Team Awesome Hits Slump, Kinect Proves to Be Frunstrating
by MacTHW
enderdog fails to secure a kitchen pass for Friday night, so naturally it’s open season on enderdog courses. Team Awesome hits a slump, going 0-3 for the season. Meanwhile, our young rookie returns to the field, but only once the heat of tournament competition has blown over. The Kinect continues to be both fun and frustrating. Check out the frunstrating headlines for this past weekend in THW Golfing, coming up next.
With dude still out trying to heal the emotional scars of not winning a tournament and ender reading a book at his local Romance Novel book club, Ash, binkdog and MacTHW take to the field at Spyglass Hill.
It must be a warmup round because scores are nowhere near challenging for the Course Pro position. Somewhow, MacTHW finds himself in first place while Ash and binkdog have to settle for a tie for second.
Spyglass Hill
Next course to be attacked is Blackwolf Run. Chances are not looking good as all three golfers hit the turn with scores over PAR. MacTHW looks poised for another win but then manages to bogey eight of the last nine holes. binkdog sneaks in a birdie on the 17th and takes the win by two strokes.
Blackwolf Run
Ash retires for the evening, leaving binkdog and MacTHW staring down the fairway at Liberty National, yet another enderdog course. Best record is a 2-over PAR 74 which binkdog feels confident he can beat. binkdog hits the turn at two over par bu then eagles the 10th bring him back to even. MacTHW is out of the running as they head into the 18th, with binkdog only needing PAR to take the record from enderdog. binkdog gets distracted by a bunker, goes double-bogey and ties the record.
Liberty National
Not satisfied with a tie, binkdog wants another crack at a record so back to Spyglass Hill the two golfers go. binkdog looks to be in a good position, hitting the turn at one-under. He birdies the 10th, going two under. He gives them back on the 12th, shooting double-bogey on the par three. binkdog finds himself in a similar position on the 17th, needing par on the remaining holes to snag himself a record. He runs into trouble on the par four 17th, hitting bogey and follows up the 18th with another bogey, falling two strokes shy of the record at Spyglass Hill.
Spyglass Hill
Saturday starts out where Friday left off…at Spyglass Hill. enderdog arrives at the tee box and suddenly we have a Team Awesome and Team binkerton team game in the mix.
MacTHW leads the pack at the turn, but we’ve all seen this movie before. He squanders the lead along the back, running into a quadruple-bogey buzzsaw on the 13th. MacTHW relinquishes his lead leaving enderdog and binkdog to battle it out for first. enderdog’s double on the 18th is still good enough to take first place while binkdog and MacTHW settle for second.
Spyglass Hill
In the team competition, Team binkerton takes it 1UP on the 4th. AshTHW tries to bring it back all-square on the 11th with Eagle but enderdog matches with Eagle of his own. Team binkerton takes another hole on the 12th as both Ash and MacTHW shoot bogey. AshTHW strikes again on the 16th with birdie bringing the game back to one down for Team Awesome. enderdog answers on the 17th with birdie which brings the team game to a close, Team binkerton going 2UP.
binkdog is able to coax dude out of his shell and talks him into joining the group at East Lake. While Ash, binkdog and MacTHW are busy stumbling over bogies, enderdog and dude waste no time pulling ahead of the pack. dude goes eagle/birdie on the 15th and 16th. enderdog, unable to answer, falls back and gives dude the win. dude also bests his own previous record at East Lake and remains the Course Pro.
East Lake
The group decides on one more round…this one at Wolf Creek. The Kinect is unkind to MacTHW who shoots himself out of competition very early on. ender is on target and hits the turn at four-under, impressive considering tournament conditions and no green grid. dude tries to reel in enderdog along the back but fails to slow him down completely, despite enderdog doubling the 14th and 16th. enderdog bests his previous Wolf Creek record of 74 with his new, shiny score of 69.
Wolf Creek
Despite the Kinect being what it is, games remain very competitive. Team binkerton remains the team to beat and scrappy enderdog is busy clawing his way to number one on the leaderboard, slowly gaining on the elder ‘dog.
Join us again next week for more golfing action.

Enderdog…Lather, Rinse, Repeat
by AshTHW
It was a contentious tournament on the weekend following Independence Day at the historic Old White TPC at the Greenbrier Golf Club. Established in 1914 this is a legendary course named for the Old White Hotel which stood on the grounds of this club from 1858 through 1922. One of the first to play these historic links was president Woodrow Wilson, even the leader of the free world had to contend with the generous fairways and undulating greens.
The group from Teamhousewares was up for the challenge that this course could offer. With Enderdog trying to repeat as champion of this course and Binkdog trying to relive his glory from two years previous; it made for a competitive few rounds of golf. The two previous champions were not going to take this win with ease with Mac, the Dude and Ash standing in the way.
As the golfers hit the links for round one it was a close battle for the top four spots as Enderdog dominated this round with six birdies and finished with a respectable five under par. The best the next contender, Dude, could do was shoot even followed by Bink with plus one, Mac with plus five and Ash riding comfortably in the caboose with twelve strokes over par.
Round two saw the two Texans playing via Indiana fighting for the lead. Bink and Dude did not care to wait for the rest of the field and finished in tandem with a one under par. The closest competitor was the Enderman with two over and Mac and Ash bring in the tail with plus eight and ten respectively.
Round three saw the resurgence of our recumbent, Enderdog, putting an even par on the scoreboard. Ender was followed closely by Bink and Dude tying each other once again but this time with a score of three over par for each golfer. Mac, trying hard to keep up, followed the dynamic Texan duo with a five over par. Then we have Ash residing in the caboose with a mighty sixteen over par.
As the Housewares crew rounds the corner from round three into round four there is a surprising development, the Dude has dropped out of the tournament. He felt since he was five strokes from the lead it was a lost cause so he posted a DNF for the THW Greenbrier Classic. The rest of the group soldiered on to round four without the presence of the young dynamo known as the Dude. Round four saw an exciting finish with Enderdog putting the proverbial nail in the coffin into the rest of the field. By throwing down an impressive eight birdies Ender posted a score of seven under par. The nearest opponent was the Binkster with four over par, then Mac with plus seven. At the bottom of the field was the ignoble Ash with seventeen over par.
The final score for the tournament put Enderdog on top, once again, with ten under par, followed by Binkdog with a respectable seven over par then MacTHW putting plus twenty-five in the scorebooks, followed by AshTHW with an impressive fifty-five over, and then the Dude with a DNF.
Final standings after four rounds:
The Greenbrier | Course PAR: 70 | Tournament PAR: 280
|
---|
POS | Player | Round 1 | Round 2 | Round 3 | Round 4 | THRU | TOTAL | SCORE |
---|
1 | enderdog | 65 | 72 | 70 | 63 | 72 | 270 | -10 |
2 | binkdog | 71 | 69 | 73 | 74 | 72 | 287 | +7 |
3 | Mac | 75 | 78 | 75 | 77 | 72 | 305 | +25 |
4 | Ash | 82 | 80 | 86 | 87 | 72 | 335 | +55 |
DNF | dude | 70 | 69 | 73 | — | 54 | 212 | — |
After the grueling rounds at the Greenbrier Mac, Ash and Enderdog decided to wind down with a round at Wolf Creek. This course decided it would have its way with the three brave combatants and handed out a plus four to Ender then a plus thirteen to the Mac-inator and a disappointing twenty-six over for the Ash man.
Thanks for reading, see you next time on the virtual links of Team Housewares.

2012 THW Greenbrier Classic
by MacTHW
Heads up golfers, it’s tournaments time again at THW Golf.
Last year’s Griinbrier Classic was one of the greatest in THW Golf’s history. Seartu was on board for his very first tournament while enderdog and MacTHW battled it out up and down the nines only to end up tied after four rounds, forcing a playoff at the Augusta Par 3. enderdog keeps his cool and emerges victorious over MacTHW after 9 holes.
This year’s tournament will be played on the XBox and the poster has been updated to reflect that. Who will be crowned champion of this year’s THW Greenbrier Classic and take home all those extra points?
